then I got the "engineering dept" (meaning a couple of guys sitting in the carpark of the hotel with a hacksaw and a slab of cement) of Kuta Paradiso Hotel to cut enough of the handle off so that I could fit them easily into my largest suit case. The tops were wrapped in newspaper and taped with masking tape. (a real challenge when we got to Australian customs and the customs guy wanted to have a look at them!!) Anyway, once we got them home my hubby got a couple of pieces of dowl from Bunnings and connected them back onto the shorter handles and I painted them the same colour. It was a bit of trouble but the Umbrellas only cost me $6.00 each and the wood from Bunnings was about $4. So in the end it was a bargain really.
I guess it depends how handy you are and if you can find an "engineering dept" at your hotel.
