Have a look at Resor Prima. This small brick and tile traditional hotel is a real bargain at approx AU$25 per night for a comfortable double room, including an adequate cooked breakfast. Aircon, fridge and TV. En-suite with H&C and western toilet. Pleasant garden and pool. Right on a nice white sand beach, which is unusual for Candi Dasa. No steps or steep slopes to speak of.

Mention Rex and Emiko, the friends of Roby and Denise from France and you may get the price down a bit.

A few minutes easy [flat] walk from the Amlapura end of Candi Dasa main street. A handy shop for water, Coke, Bintang etc. If it's closed, go around the back and they'll open up just for you. A handy warung, Warung Pini, owned by the delightful Wayan. Very pleasant and reasonably priced.

A good driver, Wayan Manek [Nick] operates out of the place next door to Resor Prima. Ph 081 8353501. A great day out is to go up the coast road past Ujung water palace to Amed [which is actually a string of villages over several kilometres known colloquially as Amed]. Spectacular undulating coastal scenery. The first village of any size you come to is Lipah. I've stayed at Vienna Beach, Coral View and Hidden Paradise. All about double the price of Resor Prima, but very pleasant. Plenty of Warungs. We tend to favour WaWaWeWe.

Then back to Candi Dasa down the inland road past Tirtagangga water palace and some amazing mountain and rice terrace scenery.

I'm never stuck for things to do for a week or two or more in that area, Colleen. Anything you would particularly like to know, just ask. And email me if you wish.
