As i have only been to Bali twice not a lot of most memorable but i will start this off. First trip ..hated Bali...no good memories travelled with wrong group...Second trip i now love bali, so lots of good memories..Best day was with my brotherinlaw. Day started out with John asking me to join him on a visit to Denpasar for a look at the markets.Just a short walk he told me ..just down this gang across the busy road and we will catch the local bus into Denpasar.Short walk like heck..we were staying in Seminyak and the shortest walk was up double6 then the marathon began.Across legian down gang no shelter from the sun keep on walking for ages at last what i thought was the main road...wrong guess..across this road dodging busses cars, motorbikes, trucks, anyway still alive off we go down another gang walking, walking. May i mention all the way i was delighted with the hellos and smiles of the people along our route also the commentary of my brotherinlaw, who is extremely knowledgeble of all things Balinesse as he has been many times in the last 30 years. I learnt a lot of things ,political, cultural and historical form him. also that he doesnt know what a short stroll is.Finally made it to The main road didnt have to wait long for local bus to arrive. Boarded the bus with school kids on the way to school and most impressed to see us sitting in their bus, great aircon...no windows..Arrived in Denpasar and once again John says we shall just walk down this way. Off we went walking, walking, walking...found ourselves sack bang in the middle of a Big Parade and ceremony. Shook hands with so many police and officials. They were on every street corner stopping traffic and couldnt help asking us if we were lost.No not lost says brotherinlaw just doing some sightseeing via foot.So many happy children and people everywhere, what a great feeling to be so welcomed. At last the markets and wow what can you say.. but what no elevators.. so yep more walking. The smells and clours of this place are incredible, spices ,tobacco, fish, flowers so good so many great photos. After our walk thru here it was time to go back to Seminyak so off we set and yes we walked and im sure that now when i look at maps we near on walked all the way to Denpasar and back.Exhausted and hot we arrived back at our hotel cooled off in the pool and out to lunch.John took me to a local Warung and helped me order excellent food 3 large Bintangs and the end to the most memorable day i have had in Bali so far.But going back and going to have more memorable moments to share with whom ever wants to listen.
Trsh
