monthly unless you have a social visa which means a sponsorship letter from a contact in Indonesia. I know this to be correct because I am helping someone get a social visa to stay in Bukittinggi in West Sumatra, through a friend contact in Bukittinggi.
A social visa allows you 60 days and then a few days before that is up you have to report to Immigration to get a new 30 day stamp and pay 200,000 rupiah and repeat that for the duration of the 6 months.
If you know of a different scheme in Bali pray tell.
I am not interested in a social visa anyway, because I plan to go from Bali to Lombok to Sumbawa, to Bali to Java, west, central, east, then West Sumatra and Northern Sumatra to Banda Aceh and Pulau Weh. As you can see I will not be in any one place for long.
So on my 59th day of my visa obtained here in Sydney I will fly from Padang West Sumatra to Singapore return with Tiger Air for $110AUD, stay a few days in Singapore at the Inncrowd and get an agent to get me a new visa.
Then back to another 60 days of travelling.
Pamela.
