because of the hotels you are trying are the contracted ones to airlines, so always cheaper when booked as packages with airlines. Doesn't make it any easier as majority would have tried hotels included in packages, then when it's time to make the break and go it alone, the same hotels are not readily available at the price you want. Thats why it's a good idea whilst on holiday to be nosy and check out a couple of hotels that you may want to visit next time.
