when we go to Bali we usually go to either Marco or another in in Legian where the locals shop - think its call Alpha Supermarket and we buy our Bintang and nibbles as its cheaper there than anywhere else. We always buy two of the biggest bags of rice you can find plus some different sauces and anything else I can think that they may use, Made our driver was so excited last trip in October after he dropped us back at the hotel he drove straight back up to his village which is between Legian and Ubud to deliver the goods to his wife and mother as it was Gulungan (spelling) and it meant they had the best quality rice for their village to eat. He said it would keep them going for a month at least. I agree if you give them money they offer it to the gods to say thank you - I know it's their custom but eh food on the table is better than mony in the temple.
