Luckily in my experince of having 10 nieces/nephews and great nieces/nephews I can tell you that in by experience in buying gifts for girls is so much easier than for buying for boys.
However it is still not easy as every child is different. I may be old fashion but dolly's and prams I feel are great gifts for little girls what ever age or nationality. Educationally you can scan Target or Kmart in the toy section and a majority of the toys show age groups that are suitable for the gift.
I hope this sheds a bit of light..... good luck...... I am sure the "little lady' will be really excited with whatever her friend has bought her.
