Stayed in room 1122 which is on the same floor as the gym and spa and not too far to the stepss down to the pool. The spa is temporarily in the gym area. My husband uses gym equipment regularly and was more than satisfied. He said the gym staff were friendly and came and put music on in the mornings when he used it. I used the treadmill but there is also the stairmaster, Ski type thing and cycle. The room was large but view of some lawn and bamboo along the fenceline. My husband is a big eater and ate lots every breakfast and so we usually had no lunch - all types of food - nasi, mie, cold meats, bacon & sausages, white rice, fried vegies and fried potatoes, rice porridge, fruits and pastries etc. Something for everyone. The hotel was at 100% capacity due to Chinese new year but not much evidence except at breakfast. Restaurants quiet at other times and street vendors saying they don't spend much. Only a few Europeans at the hotel. Staff friendly and we even got a free ride to the airport at 1.30am on departure. The streets were very quiet and often hardly a European in sight, except at busy places such as Discovery mall and Matahari. Ma Joly is close by and after my late afternoon snack they showed me one of the rooms, very nice and on special at $US114 for the Junior suite, but out of my price range. The superior had an outdoors bathroom, separate shower, internet enabled, cable TV and DVD player and DVDs on request. Butler service and includes breakfast and afternoon tea, free transport to/from airport. Even the ground foor superior has sea views but 1st floor is best, according to reception. My husband had call to see a dentist and went to Bali Dental Clinic at Mal Galleria. The rescue procedure was about $A65 and the next two procedures, on our return from Auckland two weeks later, was 2,250,00Rp for a crown which is about $A320. I'm pretty sure it is cheaper than in Australia. Had no problem being seen for emergency treatment - seen straight away and made appointments for the other two treatments.
Sorry for diverging from the original enquiry.
