Departure tax, from Australia, is $38 and does not vary from place to place or from airline to airline. The remainder of the charges, loosely referred to as taxes, are made up of landing and take-off fees, levied on aircraft by airport operators, security charges, noise abatement, fuel levies, etc, etc. The more airports you land and depart from the higher the charges will be. The single biggest cost is the fuel levy and this is imposed by the individual airline and goes directly to them, not the government.
