We've just come back from 10 days in Ubud - and thoroughly recommend staying there if you want to relax, and enjoy the real Bali, and especially the food - for foodies, Ubud is a must.
Here's some of our recommendations for Ubud - we're very keen on food, so most of these are geared toward that!!

- Definitely do the Casa Luna cooking class - we did the Tuesday Market Tour, and learnt so much about Indonesian flavours and cooking.

- Do visit Indus Restaurant (owned by the same people who run the cooking classes) - incredible setting and beautiful food.

- We had a fantastic guide, Wayan, if you need a guide from Ubud, you won't find better than him - he is incredibly knowledgable, loves Bali and loves showing people Bali. His website is www.hiddenbali.com

- Hotel Tjampuhan is lovely for a relaxing, old school Indonesian hotel - a little dated, but the grounds, pool and general setting are absolutely stunning.

- Eve's Body was the best spa we went to, there's two, one in Monkey Forest Road and one near the Tjampuhan. We went to Zen Body Holiday, but it wasn't as good. Eve's is reasonably priced, a beautiful little spa, and offers a great Balinese massage.

- In general terms, we found Don's price guide from this site invaluable, definitely take a copy of it with you!

Have a ball, we did!
