I was recently in Candi Dasa and had the great fortune to stay in KUBU Bungalows- across the street from the beach ( such as it is) but giving fantastic views over the ocean to Nusa Lembongan.
Provided you dont mind walking up and down lots of stairs this is a place i have no hesitation in recommending- we paid $60 USD a night for a deluxe bungalow- open air bathroom, verandah and own garden with sunlounges, the pool is gorgeous and clean as is the entire place. We were lucky and walked in off the street but it might pay to book as it seemed fairly popular www.kububali.com
CD is quiet but there are some nice restaurants ( Lotus, Puri Bagus, Alila) and if you want to have a laid back restful stay it is perfect.
