He has been legally married to a Balinese girl for nearly 7 years and they have a 5 year old son. They have bought a house and are permanently settled. Ron's wife Dayu is not herself an influential woman, but she is what you could call well connected by family.
All that counts for nothing as far as employment in Bali is concerned. It would be extremely difficult for Ron to get any kind of work in Bali and well paid work is virtually out of the question. He comes to Perth 2 or 3 times a year for a few weeks and does contract work and that adequately provides for his family.
Unless you have a wanted trade or profession which cannot be filled by local people, or you start a business, then that's the way to go.
