Hope it all goes well for her and that she gets to Kuching.
Please tell her that there's a couple of excellent museums there worth having a look at, as well as some fine old buildings, both English and chinese influenced. Also, a sunset trip up the river is another good trip to do, you learn lots of history in particular, and can enjoy some nibbles and a drink along the way. And a trip across the river in a sampan is fun.
Also, the Kuching Cultural Village is a MUST DO, and you can either join an organised tour, or buy your own ticket which we did, and catch a bus out there. The fishing village restaurants about 45 minutes out of the city are a unique eating experience as well, but better to have others to share it with.
At least there's no hawkers in Kuching to hassle her either. It's quite a relaxing place I reckon, with none of the chaotic traffic of Kuta or KL. I hope she enjoys it as much as I did.
