We arrived back on Saturday - We took mostly $50's and $100 notes. We also had travellers cheques, but I wouldn't bother with these again (this was our first trip). Had no problem changing money in Kuta, but in Seminyak beware of the shops that have "money changers", MAKE SURE, they also say "NO COMMISSION". We walked away from one shop because he touched the money while we were counting it, and there wasn't enough! There was a PT Central on left before the Bintang Supermarket - they give you a receipt, large notes in good condition, but he would'nt accept a note from us that was slightly torn. Hubby had a bumbag (yeah I know - bumbag), but it had 3 different sections to it, he put it through the belt holes of his shorts, never had a problem! Also used the in-room safe of our hotel which was great.
