arrived back in freezing cold west oz after spending 11 glorious days in bali. left on 28th august, garuda sun morn, all 9 of us, 4 adults 5 kids aged 10-15. this was our 1st trip, mother has been a regularto bali and we were sick of hearing about her trips so now its our turn. flight was fine, food fine, to be honest my only concern was getting there safely, we were all sooo excited.arrived on time and went thru customs very quickly.got a lift to sanur,to the griya santrian.Rooms great, headed sraight to the pool to cool off and order some lunch, what a life, I could get used to this, I love warm weather.I had spent most of the year researching the forum to help us and so a big thanx to all for sharing info. I won't do a day by day account as my memory is a bit sketchy as to times etc, except to say we had a ball. We shopped and ate and spent lots of money and loved it, we got some good bargains and probably payed a bit more for others but hey we didnt care, we had saved for this so what the heck. Some of our highlights were, the volcano, loved the trip up there and the view, just spectacular. really liked ubud markets good shopping there.Sharkys at jimbaran was fantasic. The atmosphere was terrific, with the singers serenading us and eating on the beach I live near the beach but its often so windy we cant always do that.We had a guide who we met thru my nephew on his earlier trip. His name was Johny and he was fantastic, the kids just loved him. Nothing was too much trouble and the male kids in our group got to go on his motorbike so they thought that was pretty hot.We did a day of watersports at nusa which was also a great day, I am not a thrillseeker at all so I loved watching my hubby and kids enjoying themselves. I did do the banana boat ride and got thrown off and I think my daughter kicked me in the ribs as they were sore even had an xray on our return home but must have just been bruised muscles.next time I will sit on the beach and watch. We also went to Waterbom pk which I thought was lovely,so clean and tidy,we ate there I thought it was fine price wise and nice food and great service. Adventure World could do with a few lessons from these guys. The toilets were immaculate all the time. Definately wortha second trip.We spent quite a bit of time in Centro which we liked as well,I think it was a nice break from the heat and hawkers ,I bought a few gifts in there so I liked being able to wander at leisure and not be hassled. My son got 3 game boy games in there for $13 each so we were happy.Johny took us to meet his family which cut me up a bit as they have so little yet are so happy. The kids said Johny was the highlight of their trip so we have decided we are going back next year.We also loved Poppies Lane 1 and the restaurant (yum), the memorial and the people especially the people. We went with my sister and hubby and kids and loved being together, sure sometimes u get a bit stressed about things but I loved having everyone around and theres comfort in having another opinion about something. We liked being in Sanur, it is a bit cooler and quieter, a nice place to come home to and relax at the end of a busy day. Can't wait until next year. thanx again for all the tips.
