Thought I'd post this information for anyone who has a serious allergy sufferer in the family. We notified QBE / Omega that our daughter has a peanut allergy & after filling out a "Medical Appraisal" form & leaving it with them on Friday (by fax) they have gotten back to me today regarding coverage. I was told that this form would be necessary IF she carries an epi-pen, which she does. They explained that we may not be able to get coverage & that there may be an extra charge involved if we were given coverage. This was a bit of a worry because, not only are we travelling to the US on this trip, we're also taking a cruise - and medical evacuation from a cruise ship wouldn't be cheap! Well, the good news is that they have agreed to cover us and haven't charged us any extra. I can't say that this would be the case in all situations or for all policies, but we're damned glad that it's been the case with ours. Good new from an insurance company - isn't that an oxymoron? Cheers, Sue.
