I don't take much in the way of clothes but since I don't really like shopping that much and we go to Bali frequently I do seem to have my "Bali clothes". You know the kind of thing, light weight non iron etc. and my rule is that a never take a shirt, skirt or shorts that doesn't go with more than one thing.

What takes up the room in my bag is the "stuff" and that just lives in zip up sponge bags in my case. I mean a bag of over the counter medications for all eventualities, and if you're staying for a month or something that's a lot of possibilities!! Then there's the first aid stuff in another zip bag. Then there's what I call my hardware stuff bag, corkscrew (essential!!) adaptor power plugs, torch, immersion water boiler, and Oh God I confess a jug to boil the water in with the afformentioned immersion boiler. Well a lot of little hotels don't have kettles and I'm not going to go to buy boring stuff the minute I get to Bali! Then I take the old toothbrushes and shower scrunchie thing from the bathroom and replace them with new, so I can throw away the old one's on packing to come home. Then there is my Bali folder full of lists and addresses and business cards and hotel booking confirmations etc. so you can see it's a good job I don't take much in the way of clothes!! That stuff really adds up weight wise. Off course I split it between his and hers bags and as a rough rule of thumb consign anything that may leak or weight heavily to "his". The excuse being I don't want to scrunch up the stickers colouring books etc. for kids in Bali.

Well I may as well face it, I may like to think I travel light, but I suppose it must be admitted. I don't. As I said before don't shop much, just as well really!
