I'm of the opinion that if surfers and golfers can put through all their big stuff at no extra charge then I can give it a go to.
I've been doing this for a while now and so far never been questioned. It's a bit of a grey are the old sports luggage allocation.
Geneva bubble wrapped it for me and I was thinking it needed an extra layer or two but no probs, all ok. They also attached a rope handle for me so I could hook it on my shoulder.
The lamp cost me $35 and is wello ver $200 back here. There are quite a few there so if you went mad and bought the first one I was eyeing off that stand ^ft I'd suggest perhaps an actual surboard cover for it. You can get a decent cover for under 200.000rp if you look at some of the smaller dodgy looking surf shops.
One more tip for you. The lamps don't have the electrical fitting inside so when you get back go to a $2 shop, buy the cheapest lamp you can find, put a tea towel over it on the front lawn and smash it with a hammer. Hey Presto you have the inner bits you need foryour new lamp and cheaper than bunnings.
Happy Lamp shopping
