Rama GardeN is alovely hotel in Jl Yudistra (formerly Jl Padma) is quite small - only 15 rooms upstairs and 15 down stairs, all built around a pool (we call it Melrose Place - if you remeber the TV show. You mentioned wanting a "Games Area of the kids and being on the beach, Rama has neither of these but the price is good the rooms and restaurant are clean and the staff are great. Fantastic location for restaurants and shopping and if you stand out the front of the hotel and look down the street you can see the beach so it is easily waklking distance.
We have stayed there and so have family - everyone loves it.
My husband and I have been to Bali several times but are taking our boys (5 and 7 yrs) for the first time in Nov.
We have stayed at the Mandira and loved everything about but must admit We loved Rama Garden just as much and the $$$ are a lot less.
Rama Garden doesn't have a Luxury Spa Treatment area like the Mandira but there is a very good Beauty/Hair Salon just acroos the road next door to the Mini Mart (Mirrah's)and they were very good. We also found a lady who was very good and prepared to come to our A/Cond room to do massage, we paid her a few extra dollars to give to the hotel for allowing her onto hotel grounds but even this was excellent value.
I'd definately recommend Rama Garden but when you talk to your agent make sure they qquote on Rama Garden Cottages on Ydistra St NOT Rama Beach Resort - they are two different places.
