I see that the hint of treats has been suggested. If you throw treats the dogs think they are stones and back off, if they realise is food a fight can easily break out.

I agree with carrying treats but be sparing and use only if absolutely essential and you are afraid. Do not run, walk slowly dropping the treats as you go.

You can give treats to dogs you meet individually, they love liver treats, make yourself and take with you LOL.

The majority of Bali dogs are all noise and no action but sometimes sick old abused dogs can get upset, most are just doing their job and warning of strangers.

I have never had a problem in out of the way places but I have no fear of dogs and perhaps I have been lucky. There have been dog attacks on tourists in Bali, single bites, one I remember a couple of years ago reported from a little female behind Legian street. The dog had puppies with her, the same dog barked at me, she did not run at me I ignored her and she ran back to her pups.
