Hi, We have only just got back from bali, you do not need a chip for gameboy games. We bought a heap of gameboy games at Matahari's and so far all are playing great. They cost between $10 - $ 28. We also have a sim card from bali, as you can re charge every time you go back and sms on ours cost 32 cents back to australia. Ours is XL brand, but there is many, many brands to buy. We personally have found the XL is easiest to recharge eg. Circle K's, supermarkets, matahari's etc. If you are a frequent visitor to bali like we are, you get to keep your phone number, which is great!
