In Bali, locals do not swim in the nude (except for young children)and of course never sunbathe. They do wash in the rivers or in the ditches each evening, in the nude, of course.
At the beaches in Sanur, Kuta, etc, fequented by tourists, there are no nude bathing to speak of. Some ladies may take their tops off and that's all. If you were to drop everything, you soon would feel unconfortable, which is exactly what you don't want to be. At Bukit small, out of the way beaches, fequented mostly by surfers, you can sun-worship most likely in peace.
There are out-of-the-way beaches all along Bali's coast. However, these beaches are not frequented by tourists but only by locals who have hardly been in contact with foreigners. If you bathe in the nude and few locals happen by, chances are that in no time you will be the attraction: not exactly what you are seeking.
But do come to Bali. It's a great place, even without nudism.
