we have a slimline ps2 and we had it chipped in bali, and in short i wish we didn't. the chipping caused the laser to fail ...twice!! and obviously we had to pay for these to be replaced here, and there!!
had the chip removed in australia to find out that the chip used was a really crappy one with no resistors fitted,which are required and anyway it was a very expensive exercise.
some people on here have had success but only when purchasing a complete ps2 that is chipped already. i don't know why ,but i assume it is because whoever is doing these ones does a much better job and uses good quality components.
