after 2 days in Bali, 10 days in Bangkok/Koh Samui and 2 days again in Bali!!!! It was brilliant, Im so glad we did it that way, cause I was having a hate relationship with Bali, but am now in love with it again.
Bangkok is FANTASTIC although I must admit I found it a little tourist unfriendly, ONLY because I found that most signs were in Thai, and knowing NOTHING about the place, sometimes you were a little bit puzzled as to where was what, but no matter, there are always taxis to just hop in to.
I went to a Dentist over there and had my teeth lasered white for just on $300!!! Compared to the $1000+ over here.
We also loved the canals/klongs and the boats that you could hire to drive around in just about all day!!!! We went to snake shows, crocodile shows, rode elphants, patted tigers and ate the most delicious food you can imagine. Just go to any restaurant or cafe that looks clean and the food will be 100%.
The tuk tuks are great fun, but terribly unhealthy, the poor guys who drive them certainly cant have a very healthy set of lungs. We dined at the Oriental and the Peninsula hotels, two of the most elegant hotels. We saw giant buddhas in beautiful wats (or temples) and overall just had an amazing time.
Koh Samui is definitely the place to go for absolutely gorgeous beaches or anywhere on the beach for that matter, just some are quieter than others. We were on Chaweng Beach which is kinda the main beach in Koh Samui but if I went again I would probably stay in Lamai, which is definitely tourist town but the beach is just so empty, and the hawkers dont bother you if you dont want to be bothered, it really was like I imagine Bali wouldve been 30 years ago. Please email me if you want to know anything else.
