are actually ILLEGAL in Bali, but as in many cases, a "blind eye" is turned. They are readily available at many hawkers stalls along Garlic Lane (Jalan Menuh), plus many other locations. The best selection I saw was at Supa Nova down in Tuban. I am a licenced Pyrotechnician in 3 States of Australia, and the fireworks U will find in bali are extremely small and with very limited performance compared to what we use here in our shows. You can buy small 'rockets' (which can be stuck in a bottle or the sand) a few varieties of candles & fountains which can be stuck in the sand.. but bear in mind they do NOT burn very long, nor are there many varieties or colours available. The biggest would be maybe 20mm in diameter and about 150mm long. The locals know fireworks as "kambung api". Whatever you do, please be careful when lighting, and keep head turned away, as quality is generally quite poor! Would be a disaster to spoil Mum's day with an accident.
