My boyfriend & I went to Bali last year and I was freaked out too b/c I had read warnings about not going on all the US travel sites. However, I finally just decided that for the rest of my life there are going to be warnings about traveling to different areas and I can't just sit around in wait for a perfect peaceful world.

Anyhow, once we got there everyone was wonderful and welcoming. I felt incredibly safe the entire time. There weren't many Americans, but that was actually nice as well. It wasn't until I got back to the airport in San Francisco and dealt with the rude security guards & pushy drug addicts asking me for change outside my front door that I began to feel unsafe again.

I've been keeping up with the JBR's on this forum & everyone who has been there recently says that they feel safe and there is no sign of danger from bombs or terrorists while they are there. Seems like more of the problems are dodgey money changers & stray dogs. Remember, that many of the Aussie's bring their kids and I doubt they would take them if they had any inkling that anything would happen.

You will absolutely love Bali.

Have a great trip,
Sara
