The Mercure in Kuta has the location but be careful, some of the rooms can be quite small. Avoid the rooms on the Hard Rock side of the hotel because late night bands by the pool at the Hard Rock will keep you awake. Also on that side of the Mercure, the taxi rank loud speaker below your window will drive you nuts. When you book, make sure the room you request is the bigger room facing the beach. If you don't get the big room, go down stairs and complain. Rooms 301 to 305 have ocean views and are bigger. On a more positive note, the pool area is great. There are thatched gazeboes overlooking the beach which you can use for candle lit evening meals The breakfast is very good (Should be included) Friendly staff and close to everything.

The AKK is a far better hotel. Next Papa's one of the best restauarants in bali and close to Melasti Street for great shopping food etc.
