We stayed in Kuta on the beach road and these are my rough calculations:

24 small at Makro in a crate were around 120k +31k deposit so roughly 150k but return taxi fare from Kuta is 40k so this makes 190k or 7917 per small Bintang. Also I'm not sure that it's worth spending another 40k taxi fare to return the crate and get the deposit back. Even the cleaners weren't interested in doing this. The other problem with this is it took ages for my wife to get back with the beer and even longer to chill it.

24 small in a box at Mataharis were 160k (no deposit). The wife could walk there in about 10 to 15 minutes (depending on whether she had the blinkers on or not) and get a taxi back for 5k so this makes 165k or 6875 per small Bintang. Also still a problem with waiting and chilling time.

The Circle K Minimarts were selling COLD small Bintangs for 6500 and was a short walk from the hotel. Of course there are only so many Bintangs the wife can carry so she had to make a few trips to get a crate load. At least I had a coldie while she was doing the extra trips though.

So my preference is Circle K.

Ow, just got a smack on the head :(
