No problem re the info! I just wish I had have come across this site before I left for Bali earlier this year - it's nice to get feedback about different places.
The Patra is probably a bit far out from Kuta. There is a shuttle bus that departs every 2 hours from the hotel or you can get a taxi which will cost you AUS$1, otherwise you can take a stroll down the beach and be at Kuta Square (where Matahari is) pretty quickly. It's a nice stroll too! We walked to Kuta (right into Poppies II) a couple of times. It's a good walk and it gives you a bit of time to experience the place and the people. I would not recommend walking on a blistering hot and humid day (like we did) - mind you, we still enjoyed it.
The Patra is a bit out of the way but I think that's part of the appeal - you feel like you've got this little piece of paradise that's secluded and private and then 5 minutes in a taxi and you are in the hustle and bustle of Kuta.
