In Indonesia, even when it rains it is hot, so their wet-weather gear tends to be very thin -- not much more than a sheet of plastic, really. On some occasions when I wearing it, I decided to just take it off and let it rain on me, since I was getting drenched by my sweat anyway.

If you work in cold rain, their usual wet-weather gear may not be suitable. However, there's a fair chance that they also make stuff for the export market. Maybe you should pop down to a department store and check the labels on gear you like and see what's made in Indonesia, and then divide the price by about 4.
