We stayed at BGH in August for 10 days too.
The staff in the Hotel were most attentive to our needs. Housekeeping came shortly after we made a request.
Internet out in the lobby wasnt the fastest broadband available but it was very convenient to be able to hop on for a short while after breaky or whenever.
The beach sellers are really good value too and a lot of fun.
(It is really interesting to talk to some of them about their village life. I think a few come from the Kintamani area and there seems to be a number of multiple births, eg triplets)
The pizzas at the pizzeria on the beachfront are delicious.
Its handy to be able to pop next door into the Discovery Shopping Mall, to the supermarket, Centro Dept store, electronics etc.
There is a good laundry opposite down the laneway heading south. In the same laneway, I had a leather coat made by Hans at Merryana Leather and I am very happy with the result, its camel coloured at cost 730,000rp. I think the laneway is called Gg Puspa Ayu (just past the sign to Nathan Hotel and Adi Jaya Hotel). There is a Kodak shop a little more south andit charged 20000rp to download memory cards on to cd and photo reprints were 1200rp for standard 6x4 and 4000rp for 5x7 and 4500rp for 6x8. They took a day as I think he pedals out and gets them processed off site. Great quality prints.
If you go down to the Kuta Art Market stalls, look for #111 as Nyoman sells her goods at fixed price (sssshhhhhh).
