Just for info...the place was not at all full when we were there...probably only twenty or so tourists in the whole village we atayed at (Amed is in reality a collection of villages but the places you mention we all there)
I think we stayed at the Bayu Cottages...the one right on the beach?????..the only caution about the place is to be careful about the pool which is not supplied with the right amount of chemicals you are probably used to so it tastes a bit stagnant..not a major issue..particularly with the beach right in front of you
If you aren't going in high high season when all the Euro divers go there for the offshore wrecks I would suggest that you go there and check them out without prebooking (or maybe just book one night). There's masses of accom there so I can't see you wouldn't find something to suit
