We bought some real surf gear last week from the real surf shops, both Ripcurl and Billabong.
Then bought the imitation stuff later from one of the stalls well known here on the forum. The materials feel & look the same, the labels were 'Billabong' and woven the same as the real ones, they even had printed cards with barcodes hung off them complete with a price stickers of $35.50 on them. I don't know if they were intended to be A$ or US$. They even had the woven tags stitched into the side seams like real ones but at the prices we paid, they were either stolen or damn good imitations.
We also saw the same at another stall nearby, so they are not rare.
