Last August we had some ballroom dancing shoes made at Dolphin Leather in Jl Sahadewa [near Jl Melasti]. We went there on the recommendation of ballroom dancing friends. We bought several pairs and paid about AU$30 per pair. If you take a favourite pair with you they will copy. One advantage for the men is that we can get brown, cream, grey etc as well as the usual black.

They tend to assume that our feet generally swell with the Balinese climate and may make the shoes a bit tight as a consequence. Judge for yourself as to this being the case. I had to stress on them that my feet were as usual and not to make the shoes a tight fit.

Plenty of ballroom dancing of various kinds in the Perth/Fremantle/Rockingham/Mandurah area [of Western Australia]. We dance about five times a week, a mixture of Ballroom, Latin, Street Latin, Latin line-dance, old time, New Vogue and English Sequence. We also jive, my jiving being strongly rock-n-roll influenced. In fact my whole social life revolves around dancing and has done ever since I was 16, which is many years ago.

You will be familiar with English Sequence, but I don't know if Australian New Vogue is popular in England. This is a similar style of sequence dancing, to various rythms, but is choreographed in Australia.

I don't compete, in fact I have no medals or qualifications whatsoever, but my lady friend sometimes competes in Ballroom, Latin and New Vogue categories and does very well. We dance well together socially, however. As I put it, I have all the fun and none of the stress.

BTW I'm also a snorkeler and can tell you where I like to snorkel in Bali.

If you would like to talk dancing, you can email me [remove no spam].
