Yes you keep the receipt and when you are departing you can claim the GST at the airport. Remember you must have the goods in your possession as well. I have not done this yet myself so I don't know if the GST rebate counter is before you go through the big silver doors to customs or before but I reckon if you ask when you check-in (which is what I'm going to do in 12 more days) they may point you in the right direction. One other thing - your purchase needs to have been made within the 30 day previous to your travel date - so I'd do it no more than 29 days before you go. Sorry I was so rude and didn't answer your original questions.
