Sorry if this has been mentioned before, however it is probably worth mentioning again, and might assist someone from missing out on their Bali Holiday.

I work for a 'mining' company and we have to travel a lot, as such we have just received this from our Travel Agents;

New Qantas Domestic
Baggage Procedures

New procedures will be introduced by Qantas for domestic
checked baggage from 1 September 2005

Background
With the Australian Government introducing regulations requiring security screening of all checked baggage at Australian Domestic Airports Qantas have advised that to ensure their on-time performance is not impacted, new close out times for baggage acceptance at check in have been introduced.

New Close Out Times for Checked Baggage
From 1 September 2005 for all domestic flights (including Qantas and Qantas Link)acceptance of checked baggage will close 30 minutes before the scheduled flight departure time.

For customers traveling on Qantas international flights (including Australian Airlines) the recommendation to be checked in 2 hours prior to departure remains, however travelers must be checked in no later than 60 minutes before departure.

Check In Early Recommended
It is recommended that travelers arrive at the airport early to check-in and complete security procedures to ensure that the new close out times are not missed.

Should a traveler arrive to check in with baggage within 30 minutes of the scheduled departure time of their flight, Qantas has advised that they will be unable to accept both the traveler and their baggage, which may result in re-booking penalties.

No Baggage to Check in?
If a traveler has no baggage to check in, they can continue to check in up to 15 minutes prior to the departure of their flight.

I suppose what it boils down to is don't be late or you may not get processed, and that would be a bummer!

Hope this helps. BJC {:o)
