This is a difficult question as it depends so much on the family. Some people take their kids everywhere from birth and love it. Others prefer to wait until children are older and will remember the experience. It also depends what sort of holiday you want. If you are going to spend a lot of time at the resort or take it in turns to do things which are not children friendly it would be fine.

We have just returned from Bali. It was our first overseas trip with our chn aged 13 and 16. For us, and now knowing what Bali is like we are glad we waited. If I had to spend lots of time in the resort I would prefer to holiday on the east coast of Aus.
We wanted to do a lot of shopping and the only way to really get into it is to walk... and walk...and walk! Very hard with small children. We didn't want to split up. I certainly would not have enjoyed pushing a sroller as the footpaths, although adequate would be a nightmare with a pusher. I observed some very stressed looking mums pushing strollers over very uneven ground with motor bikes and cars just cms away. Sure, if you take taxis everywhere and just go to the department stores and only to markets near your resort it would be fine. It depends on your expectations really. We wanted to go parasailing, WWR, jet boating, jet skiing and relax around pools without young children, who have different needs to older children or adults.

Just my thoughts. We are great believers on doing the holiday that suits your child's age so that everyone (including Mum) enjoys the trip.Personally I would not take young children to Bali.
