have meant - out of town a bit on the main road from Singaraja to Gilmanuk,I think by your description it would be in either Banyualit or Anturan area (near the petrol station).I'm sure you will remember his name when you see him anyway.Sorry I really don't know much out there except the Bali Taman Hotel which is one of the first you come to.When we stayed there we just got transport into Kalibukbuk because there was nothing much around.

I know the arches you mean - when we see them we start getting excited because we know it's not long to go before we arrive.I know the area you mean but we tend to stay & eat in the main part of Kalibukbuk these days because we love staying at Rambutan Cottages & there are so many lovely places to eat at & things to do right in town.

One suggestion when you go to Lovina -you must go up to Pondok Indah for a meal if you are staying in the Lovina area. It's a great place up in the hills at Kayuputih past the Damai hotel. The views are just wonderful as well. You get a great meal there with wine tasting afterwards in there cellar. It's a fun night, you must book though.Richard at the Rambutan Cottages should be able to give you their phone number,It's under Fritz & Ceria's name not under the restaurants name. They have great tender Aussie steaks or fresh fish served with crisp salad & hot chips. They bring out as much salad & chips as you want.It is melt in your mouth quality.I think it only costs about 60,000.They also sell their fruit wines made from coconut, ginger, banana etc with no preservatives added, there are about 12 in the range.I think the wine costs 80,000 but you get a free tastings after dinner.Watch it though because they pack a punch & catch up on you <LOL> Give Fritz & Ceria our regards if you go & say we are friends of the Englishman -Derek who stays at Rambutan & also with Robbie the Dutchman from Lovina.

Another favourite in Kalibukbuk is the Jasmine Kitchen - it has wonderful Thai food. For a casual yummy lunch go to the little place a few doors up from Rambutan, the man bakes his own fresh bread & does wonderful foccacias & rolls with chicken, lettuce & avocado & other great food.Funky Monkey right on the beach is owned by an Aussie called Jim,it's a good place for light snack or a drink watching the sunset.
