Just declare them as you must. They are more likely to get very grumpy if you do not declare them. They barely even glanced at the vanilla pods. Buy vanilla pods that are still moist and flexible as the hard ones are old. They didn't sound too good, did it? We paid 30 000 for 12 pods at the Ubud markets. As I was packing my bag on the last day (read- trying to work out how to squeeze everything in and sorting the heavy stuff into the hand luggage), I wrote down everything that had to be declared. Last year I pulled out everythign that I thought I had bought that was wooden but they found pencils and I got a roasting.
