We saw the notice but figured we were checking in 2 1/2 hrs early and were 10 kgs UNDERWEIGHT between the 4 of us, so thought we would be exempt. HUH!! 1 of 4 bags turned up - never got out of Perth International so quick before though! And yes they will search your luggage for resticted items even though you are not there. Customs told us "you have declared, so if anything is found you won't be in any trouble". We finally got our baggage delivered to our home at 6pm Sun. - the plane would have landed at 1pm.
We gaffer taped our zippers for the trip over, but forgot to bring locks for the trip back. Hubby was stressing stuff might be pinched, but as it was all clothing or cheap nicknacks it all turned up.
