Seems strange that a local would not know where gold street is as there were no tourists buying there. Locals buy gold as their bank accounts or rainy day money and sell it later. We did go to the material street (Jalan Sulawesi?) and there were gold shops in the street nearby. gOod luck with your gold shopping.
