As a student on approx $170 per week I put a savings plan into place with a good friend - We worked out on our incomes we could save $50 per week for a year without too much compromise on our other life expenses - and guess what - we were able to book and fully pay for our 10 night trip within 7 months - all that remains is whatever we wish to save as 'spending money'!
Saving has meant that at times i've had to compromise on going out or buying something for myself, and getting a second job to help me save for more 'important' things has been a drag, but I know that in December my holiday is going to be awesome because I worked and saved up for it especially!
I guess the point of my story is a little bit often really does add up - and surprisingly quickly if you don't watch it too closely (a watched pot never boils!). Perhaps something to think about doing - new savings account especially for the purpose is a good motivator!
Hope you get your holiday back in Bali sooner than you anticipate!
(And just for good measure I'll wish you the powerball win!)
