We'd planned to visit a small local orphanage, but had to wait on friends to be able to come, as they were all determined to come also. We went to Makro's and had a wonderful shopping spree, buying luxury items like soap, shampoos, toothbrushes and paste, you name it. Gee it's fun to buy stuff like that for others. At the end we had a large pile of stuff, virtually a boot full. We also got the chance to go to a school fete, where we bought some more clothes, toys, towels etc.
So, off we go in a little convoy, with a very weighed down blue-bird taxi. It's a little tiny place, in the outskirts of Denpasar, that we could never have found by ourselves, called 'Eben ezer'. Usually they have up to '100 kids, (and this is a small orphanage!), but luckily they had only 22 kids there, so everyone could get heaps of stuff.
We were able to give them all their own soap, shampoo, toothpaste, brush, pencils, soft toys, lollies, etc. It was a wonderful experience, very humbling, because we all imagine we've got terrible problems in our lives, don't we? Compared to these kids we've got no worries at all.
Next year we thought that we would like to be more organized, and we'll get our friends to find out exactly how old, and how many kids there are there, and that we'll do them up little packs, it was a bit of a schmozzle, but a wonderful thing to have done.
That's all folks!
