Physically you can do it, but I don't think you'll fet the same experience-- to put it in east coast terms you could have a visitor fly out of JFK to Reagan National, visit MT Vernon, cab past the White House and Capitol, and fly back-- but the extra day would let you see a lot more and actually enjoy it.
