Just flew in this morning 19kg over (had no idea we had bought so much) and were charged nothing. However, others who were only 5kg over were charged $60AUD. Heard of others who were up to 20kg over and bartered down to 100,000rp. Alot of it probably comes down to your communication skills (and some last minute bargaining)!
Many people on our flight had 3 pieces of hand luggage each and some were struggling to carry them, they were so heavy. They never checked our hand luggage (which were only a few kgs each anyway).
