Hi Kim. When we initially booked, we also had booked a superior family room. these are ok i guess. they weren't too good for us, as there was only a sliding concertina door between the kids and us. we were hoping for a bit more privacy! the view out the windows was ok (it looks out over the gardens and entrance to the lobby) but there was no real balcony as such (just one big long corridor) that faced out over the hotel laundry which was a bit noisy. We were a bit more cashed up then, and we requested an upgrade to a poolside room. We had a look at the Executive room and loved it. it was definately more $, but worth it in our eyes. VERY close to the pool, seperate room for us and heaps bigger. the pool view or garden view rooms would be a good tip. not as expensive as the exec suites, but located in the same area.
The best idea is check out your room when you get there. If you aren't too keen on it, go up to reception and enquire on the chances of an upgrade. If they are busy they might not be able to help, but I have found that most hotels will genuinely try and relocate you to keep you happy.
The link for the Dynasty's website is http://www.balidynasty.com/
Check it out. Click on Resort Facilities, then View Resort Layout. This is a great picture that shows the locations of the different types of rooms available at the resort. If you can afford it, the Pool View rooms are a good bet. Their own balcony/sitting area and facing the pool. The Garden View rooms are on the other side of the block that house the Pool View rooms. The only difference is that they face a garden or a wall and you have to walk about 20 mts around the other side of the building to the pool. its no big deal. The Garden View rooms are a bit cheaper as a result.
I hope this helps and just have a good look on their website, as their is heaps of info there.
Good luck and enjoy!
Cheers
Shane
