Bali Ayu may suit you. It's at the quiet end of Seminyak, but just a short cheap taxi ride to Legian and Kuta, where there are endless shops, restaurants and bars.

The beach there is generally clean and the water OK for swimming, but the surf can be big.

Bali Ayu is in your price range. Ask for a standard villa. This costs a little more than a standard room, but is well worth the extra. You will get the feel of Bali in this hotel and in this area.

It's about 15 minutes walk from the beach. There is a good honest money changer with good rates in the front office of Bali Mystique, which you pass on the way to the beach. If you are on a careful budget, avoid some of the expensive restaurants in that area. Try Warung Sobat, a short taxi ride away. Nice food at very reasonable prices and a friendly traditional atmosphere. Or ask the driver to take you to "Eat Street" in Seminyak, where there are plenty of choices of restaurant.

Congratulations on your good English. If you would like to know more, email me on gud4ugud4me@optusnet.com.au
