A group of seven of us were to ride, three of us were experiences cyclists, two adolescents and two havent been on a bike for ages. The tour began when Bintang Bike Tours came half an hour late with a eight seater bus with four people already in it, eleven into eight does not go, so we had another wait as they sorted out transport. Left Legian in sunlight, kid threw up in a spew bag by the time we pased Denpasar. Climbed the hill to Kintamani, dense cloud and torrential rain. Stopped at a half built restaurant that were surprised to see us for the complementary breakfast, rank food. The view might have been good, but the cloud was in the room with us.
Set off down the mountain on reasonable Polygon MTB's, tyres and brakes and helmet checked out.
Stopped in one village for a break from the rain, our friend slipped on a step leaving the compound and her ankle swelled immediately, diagnosed sprain and she and her partner were off the tour. We charged on down the road through Tegallalang. Totally soaked but with a huge smile on my dial.
Then through the Village of the White Cranes to the restaurant where we shared war stories. Good meal, forget the name of the restaurant I think it was next door to the Waka Resort, maybe not.
Yeah Bintang Bike Tour, got a few things wrong, and a few things right.
