we bought the el cheapo $30 target variety and took it everywhere, leaving our 3 wheeler at home. it definitely paid for itself many times over.
cons:
-bumpy ride as a result of little tiny plastic wheels
-uneven footpaths are a bit hazardous, definitely would be handled better by the 3 wheeler
pros
-folds up like an umbrella so it very very compact
-cheap so we didnt care if it got damaged and/or filthy
-bub fell asleep anyway
You are right, you probably wont fit a jogger into the back of a pram, or for that matter a lot of the vans due to the seating arrangements. As for catching a bemo, forget it with a jogger.
We found that if Jasper fell asleep while we were walking somewhere and then we stopped to eat, we would just put the brakes on and tilt the pram backwards so it was like he was reclining anyway.
Make sure you buy a sarong as your first purchase, useful as a sunshade and privacy when and if they get sick of being tickled and poked by the locals.
Enjoy
