He has been legally married to a Balinese girl for coming up to 7 years. They have bought a house and have a son. Dayu is what you could call well connected by family, but it makes no difference. It would be almost impossible for Ron to work there unless he started a business and employed local people. And anyway, as he says himself, why would he want to work for a week for less money than he can get in Australia in an hour?

He comes to Perth 2 or 3 times a year for a few weeks and does contract work. That gives him enough money to comfortably keep the three of them. That's probably the best option for most people wanting to relocate to Bali. Earn your money where the pay is high and spend it where the cost of living is low. Makes sense, doesn't it?
